Bush sees efforts to stabilize markets: White House

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President George W. Bush on Tuesday met with top economic advisers about the recent financial industry turmoil, and the White House said he appreciated their efforts at stabilizing the markets.

"The president was briefed this afternoon by his Working Group on Financial Markets," said White House spokeswoman Dana Perino. "He appreciates their work to strengthen and stabilize the markets."

The meeting included Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and Securities and Exchange Commission Christopher Cox among other top economic advisers, according to the White House.
