TOKYO May 31 Japan's Chugoku Electric Power Co
said on Tuesday it would delay the start of commercial
operations at its newest nuclear reactor indefinitely from the
originally planned March 2012 launch date.
The construction of the No.3 reactor at the Shimane plant,
its sole nuclear facility, was delayed after a massive
earthquake and tsunami in northeast Japan on March 11, the
western Japan-based utility said in a statement.
The March 11 disaster triggered a crisis at Tokyo Electric
Power's Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant and has spurred
several Japanese utilities to re-evaluate plans for new
