SYDNEY, July 4 (Reuters) - Former world number one Lleyton Hewitt has been named in Australia's team for the Olympic tennis tournament in Beijing next month, Tennis Australia said on its Web site on Friday.

Hewitt's participation in the Games, however, depends on whether he needs surgery on a hip injury.

Hewitt, 27, is the only Australian to gain direct entry to the men's singles. Chris Guccione is the first reserve and could receive a spot if another player withdraws.

Casey Dellacqua and Samantha Stosur will play in the women's singles as direct entries, while 2004 bronze medallist Alicia Molik has been granted a wildcard.
