Olympics-Badminton-Chinese women denied singles medal sweep
BEIJING, Aug 16 (Reuters) - Indonesia's Maria Kristin Yulianti denied China a medal sweep in women's singles badminton on Saturday when she recovered after losing the first game to beat the Olympics' third seed Lu Lan for bronze.
Lu took game one easily 21-11 but lost the second 21-13 as Yulianti showed her reach during some tough rallies.
In the decider, Yulianti had an eight-point run before the break at 11-8 and then scored seven straight points afterwards.
Lu grabbed seven of the last 10 points but her deficit was too large and she burst into tears after losing 21-15.
The top two seeds, both Chinese, will play for gold later on Saturday. (Reporting by John Ruwitch; Editing by Alex Richardson)
