UPDATE 1-Olympics-Cycling-Chausson wins women's BXM debut gold
(adds details)
BEIJING, Aug 22 (Reuters) - Anne-Caroline Chausson of France won the gold medal in BMX in its Olympic debut on Friday after gold medal favourite Shanaze Reade of Britain crashed out on the final corner.
Laetitia Le Corguille of France won the silver and American Jill Kintner took the bronze.
As a packed stadium cheered the women on, they ran a crash-filled final run. A Canadian rider, Sammy Cools, crashed before the first curve, then a huge crash changed results at the end when Reade tried to overtake Chausson on the final curve.
The finals of BMX had been delayed by one day due to heavy rain on Thursday. By Friday the course had mostly dried, though there were wet patches on the asphalt curves and the dirt track. (Editing by Alex Richardson)
