Olympics-Swimming-Sullivan breaks men's 100 freestyle record

BEIJING, Aug 13 (Reuters) - Eamon Sullivan of Australia broke the men's swimming 100 metres freestyle world record in the semi-finals at the Beijing Olympics on Wednesday.

Sullivan clocked 47.05 seconds to beat the previous world record of 47.20 seconds set by Alain Bernard of France just minutes earlier in the first semi-final.
