DETROIT (Reuters) - May auto sales fell 14 percent from a year earlier on an adjusted basis, according to data from auto manufacturers on Tuesday. The following are highlights from the largest carmakers in the U.S. market.

* Total light vehicle sales -- 1.397 million units.
General Motors Corp
* Light vehicle sales down adjusted 30 percent (272,363 units), unadjusted sales down 28 percent
* Year-to-date sales down 17 percent
* Inventories at month-end: 772,000 units, down about 219,000 vehicles from a year earlier
* Cars/trucks: Car sales down adjusted 17 percent/light truck sales down 39 percent
* Market share: 19.1 percent
* Key vehicles: Chevrolet Impala down 35.7 percent, Chevrolet Malibu up 33.9 percent, Chevrolet Silverado down 44.1 percent, Chevrolet Tahoe down 42 percent, GMC Sierra down 33.9 percent.
* Incentives: average $3,477 per vehicle, up from $2,996 a year earlier.

* Vehicle sales down adjusted 8 percent (257,404 units), unadjusted sales down percent
