"SNL" veteran Meadows talks "Walk" spoof

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - "Saturday Night Live" veteran Tim Meadows is in final negotiations to join "Walk Hard," a comedy that pokes fun at the musician biopic genre.

The Columbia Pictures project centers on a singer named Dewey Cox (John C. Reilly) who overcomes adversity to become a musical legend. Meadows will play the band's drummer.

Also cast is Raymond J. Barry, who will play Cox's cold and angry father who is constantly telling him he is a failure.

Jenna Fischer and Kristen Wiig already are onboard.

The film is scheduled to start shooting this month in Los Angeles. Jake Kasdan will direct from a script he co-wrote withe the film's producer, Judd Apatow.

Meadows' credits include "The Benchwarmers" and "Mean Girls." Barry's most recent credits include features "Steel City," for which he is nominated for an Independent Spirit Award, and "Little Children."
