WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama narrowly leads Republican rival John McCain by 47 percent to 46 percent among registered voters in a Washington Post/ABC News poll released on Monday.

The poll, taken Friday through Sunday, showed new gains for McCain after the Republican convention ended on Thursday. The last Washington Post/ABC poll, taken in August before the Democratic convention, gave Obama a 6-point edge among registered voters.

The poll of 1,133 adults, including interviews with 961 registered voters, had a margin of error of 3 percentage points.
