WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama will hold a news conference on July 22, the White House said, taking the unusual step of announcing it on its Twitter page.

The 9 p.m. (0100 GMT Thursday) news conference comes at a time when Obama is trying to drive his healthcare overhaul through a Congress that has raised questions about how to pay for its $1 trillion price tag over 10 years.
