U.S. says missile defense deal close with Poland

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States hopes to make a joint announcement later on Thursday with Poland that the two countries have reached agreement on a missile defense deal, a senior U.S. official said.

"It looks as if we are near an agreement and we hope to make a joint announcement today," the U.S. official told Reuters. Another official said negotiations were complete but the "final signing" was still to be determined.
