Bottomless Closet Kicks Off 2nd Decade in a New Site

Critical Resource for Women to Reopen on Jan. 5 to Clients, Donors

NEW YORK, Jan. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Bottomless Closet is celebrating 10 years
of supporting New York's aspiring working women with wardrobes and job
support, including career-boosting workshops and financial literacy seminars.
In the New Year, Bottomless Closet will get a new look and expanded quarters
-- twice the space -- in the Hotel Pennsylvania, reopening for business in
Manhattan on January 5, 2009 at 401 Seventh Avenue (33rd Street), B-level,
Suite 40.
"It's a very fitting way to usher in our second decade," said Barbara
Madsen Smith, president of the Bottomless Closet board. "We've evolved far
beyond simply providing business clothing for our clients. Now we need space
for our many career support offerings, such as workshops and coaching."
Just a decade ago, as many disadvantaged women were leaving public
assistance for a foothold in the workforce, a group of professional women
founded Bottomless Closet to ensure that the new entrants were job-ready with
suitable business apparel. Other donors stepped up, offering their gently worn
outfits. To date, the New York nonprofit has connected 10,000 women to work,
not only providing them with appropriate attire but with interview skills,
mentoring and workshops in professional development, personal growth and
financial literacy.
"In today's climate of economic crisis and uncertainty, our expanded
services are more in demand than ever," said Kendall Farrell, executive
director of Bottomless Closet.
On January 5, Bottomless Closet will again open its doors to clients
seeking a professional look prior to a job interview, and to generous donors
who wish to help these women with business outfits, including coats, shoes,
bags and other accessories. The new space, directly across from Pennsylvania
Station, is an easy destination for clients, donors and volunteers. Donations
to Bottomless Closet -- monetary as well as items of clothing -- are fully
tax-deductible. All gifts go to support women in getting established in a job,
succeeding in their careers and taking charge of their lives.

Bottomless Closet helps disadvantaged New York City women become
self-sufficient through a comprehensive program that begins with professional
attire and interview preparation and goes on to include professional
development, financial management and personal enrichment. Using the model of

enhances our clients' self-confidence and self-esteem in order for them to
