Pelosi Statement on House Passage of Economic Recovery and Jobs Creation

WASHINGTON, Sept. 26 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued
the following statement tonight after the House approved an economic stimulus
package that will boost our economy, create jobs, and help provide additional
relief to families who are struggling. The bill passed by a vote of 264 to
158:

"Congress is working to restore our nation's economic strength by passing a
new economic recovery stimulus package -- a robust, job creating bill -- that
will help Americans struggling with high prices, get our economy back on
track, and renew the American Dream.

"The legislation the House passed today creates new, good-paying jobs by
investing in new energy technologies and new infrastructure, repairing
America's crumbling roads, bridges and schools, helping seniors and working
families afford groceries and health care, and offering Americans job training
to gain new skills and earn higher wages.

"Democrats are working to put an end to the disastrous anything goes economic
