PHOENIX, April 1, 2008 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The U.S. Green Building
Council (USGBC) Arizona Chapter today announced that Global Water Resource's
new Global Water Center has been awarded its LEED(R) "Silver" Certification,
making it the first LEED-certified facility in Pinal County.

USGBC (a publicly-funded, non-profit organization) is the nation's foremost
coalition of leaders from across the building industry working to promote
buildings that are environmentally responsible, profitable and healthy place
to live and work.

Created in the year 2000, the LEED(R) (Leadership in Energy and Environmental
Design) Green Building Rating System(TM) is a voluntary, consensus-based
national standard for developing high-performance, green buildings and a
platform for sustainable development. There are LEED projects in all 50 states
and in 41 countries. Over 100 new construction projects per month are
registering in the US alone for evaluation under LEED.

LEED certification is available for all building types (schools, retail,
healthcare, office, industrial, governmental). LEED is a point-based system
where projects earn LEED points for satisfying specific 'green building'
criteria across six categories:

-- Sustainable Sites
-- Water Efficiency
-- Energy and Atmosphere
-- Materials and Resources
-- Indoor Environmental Quality
-- Innovation in design

The number of points a project earns determines the level of LEED
certification the project receives - from "certified" up through "silver,"
"gold" and the highest, "platinum."

The USGBC Arizona Chapter was the third chapter established in the US. There
are now 72 Chapters.

"The Global Water Center uses a high percentage of recycled water, recycled
building materials, and takes advantage of natural light and high-efficiency
heating and AC, so it uses only two-thirds of the electricity and one sixth
the water of an average comparable traditionally constructed commercial
structure. We are extremely proud of this achievement and are committed to
taking a leadership role in green practices," says Trevor Hill, President &
CEO of Global Water Resources.

"The Global Water Center continues a tradition of people and organizations in
Arizona working together to set 'Green standards' for others to emulate," says
Mike Quinn, former Chair of the Central Branch Governing Council (one of three
branches that make up the Arizona Chapter).

So far thirty-three building projects in Arizona have been LEED-certified.
