Intersouth Partners Names Katrin Burt and James Rosen Partners

DURHAM, N.C.--(Business Wire)--
Intersouth Partners, a venture capital firm focused on helping visionary
entrepreneurs build high-impact companies by providing early stage capital,
announced today that Katrin Burt and James Rosen have been named partners at the
firm. 

Burt has been an associate of the firm since 2007 as a member of the technology
team. She joined Intersouth in 2004 as an analyst, working with the firm`s
investment team on the analysis of potential new investments and the growth of
Intersouth`s existing portfolio companies. She joined Intersouth from HSBC,
where she was a foreign exchange trader in London, managed portfolios of
treasury products and equities in Tokyo and eventually moved to a business
development role managing the annual operating plan for the bank`s Global
Markets Europe Division. She received a B.A. from Oxford University, an M.B.A.
from Duke University`s Fuqua School of Business and an M.S. in Microsystems and
Nanotechnology from Cranfield University. 

Burt works with Intersouth`s technology portfolio, including portfolio companies
HexaTech, siXis, Bright Hub and Ziptronix. 

Rosen has been an associate of the firm since 2007 as a member of the life
sciences team. He joined Intersouth as an investment intern in 2005 while
completing his graduate degrees. Prior to graduate school, he worked at the UNC
Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. He was an equity research analyst at
Brean Murray & Co., covering biopharmaceuticals, genomics, generics, drug
delivery and medical device companies. He has also worked in clinical research
at multiple institutions and completed projects for the National Cancer
Institute. He spent five years in Emergency Medical Services as a mountain
search and rescue and ambulance medic. Rosen received a B.A. from Duke
University, an M.B.A. from UNC`s Kenan-Flagler Business School and an M.S.P.H.
from the UNC School of Public Health. 

Rosen works with Intersouth`s life science companies, including ABT Molecular
Imaging, Applied Genetic Technologies Corporation (AGTC), Cempra Pharmaceuticals
and Viamet Pharmaceuticals.
