PRESS CALL: MONDAY, JUNE 23, 11 AM
SACRAMENTO, Calif., June 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Where does the California
public stand on efforts to reduce global warming? On June 26th, California
will release a draft of the first comprehensive statewide plan to reduce
global warming emissions in the history of the United States. A new public
opinion research poll tests voter attitudes about taking action on global
warming and specific policies under consideration.
The poll, commissioned by Next 10, a nonpartisan, nonprofit research
organization and conducted by Fairbank, Maslin, Maullin & Associates (FMM&A),
is the first survey to gauge voter support for measures such as:
-- Requiring carmakers to make more efficient cars that pollute less
-- Requiring oil companies to make cleaner gasoline
-- Requiring new appliances and new homes to be more energy efficient
-- Requiring energy companies to produce a third of their energy from
renewable sources like wind, solar and geothermal
