President of Organizational Effectiveness, will be leaving Barrick
effective July 31, 2009. Mr. Fife has been with the Company since 2002
and has made a valuable contribution to its evolution as a global

The Company also announced that Alex Davidson, Executive Vice President,
Exploration and Corporate Development, has decided to retire, effective
August 31, 2009, after a long and successful career in the mining

instrumental role in the development of our portfolio, including Lagunas
Norte and assets acquired through Homestake and Placer Dome. We all
express our gratitude to Alex and sincerely wish him well," said Aaron
Regent, President and Chief Executive Officer. "I would also like to
thank Gord Fife for his invaluable contribution and in particular his
leadership of the integration of the Placer Dome assets into Barrick's
operations in 2006."
