VHA Prepaid Wireless and Creative Teaching Press Demonstrate Use of Interim
Executives for Flexibility, Cost Savings and Faster Bottom Line Results
ALISO VIEJO, Calif.--(Business Wire)--
Cerius Interim Executive Solutions, the North American leader in delivering
interim executive management solutions to small and medium-sized businesses
(SMBs), today announced two executive engagements that demonstrate a shift in
SMB growth strategy during challenging economic times. VHA, the leading prepaid
wireless distribution company in America, has engaged Cerius to provide
executive management solutions as it grows its retail strategy. Simultaneously,
Creative Teaching Press, a recognized leader of supplementary educational
resources for grades PreK-8, has successfully concluded an engagement with
Cerius. Cerius provided the company with an interim director of operations who
exceeded business performance objectives, then transferred leadership to a new
full-time employee.

According to a January 2009 report published by the Human Capital Institute
(HCI), 14 percent of SMBs surveyed will use contract talent for senior managers
and executives who help lead the organization. The interim executive strategy is
cost-effective, enabling immediate problem-solving and quick delivery of
results.

"During this recession, SMBs have cut key executive functions to minimize costs,
and at the same time, they fully grasp that this downturn represents an
opportunity to refocus their business operations and growth strategies," said
Pamela Wasley, president and CEO of Cerius Interim Executive Solutions. "Our
objective is to provide leadership on-demand solutions - interim executives -
who can step into any role across the top of these organizations, enabling
Cerius` clients to take their companies to the next level faster."

Using interim executives allows SMB leaders the flexibility to engage an
experienced executive on a part-time or full-time basis, for a specific period
of time, making this strategy more cost effective than hiring a full-time
executive. Cerius has experienced 52% revenue growth since the recession began,
indicating the growing acceptance of this new executive strategy. According to
the same report by HCI, 76% of SMBs surveyed view the strategic use of contract
talent as a way to enhance its competitiveness and profitability.

"We thought we would get improved operations, but what we got was an entirely
new, performance-based approach to all company activities and the insights
necessary to make substantial strategic changes," said Jim Connelly, CEO of
Creative Teaching Press. "The most notable outcomes from our Cerius Interim
engagement were: balancing supply chain activities that produced a 20% reduction
of inventory on hand while reducing customer backorders by 50%; and a reduction
of warehouse space requirements by nearly 20% that allowed us to renegotiate the
building office lease."
