Travelzoo Launches Summer Deals Section and Proves Summer Travel is Still Affordable
NEW YORK, July 14, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Travelzoo (Nasdaq:TZOO), a global
Internet media company, today revealed the results of a national survey* that
showed 4 out of 5 Americans (80 percent) believe the era of affordable travel is
over. Although travelers may have a gloomy outlook, travel deals are still
abundant. Travelzoo launched a list of summer travel deals that enable travelers
to save as much as 60 percent. To find the latest summer travel deals, visit

"In the wake of recent airline surcharges, it's no surprise that Americans feel
the era of affordable travel is behind us," said Gabe Saglie, senior editor at
Travelzoo. "To compensate for rising fuel and airfare prices, many hotels are
offering great rates and adding complimentary perks to entice Americans to
travel this summer. We are also seeing terrific prices on vacation packages to
the Caribbean and Mexico during the summer months."
Travelzoo's survey also revealed Americans are willing to go to great lengths to
get a deal on travel. Over 40 percent of Americans would give up restroom
privileges when flying if that meant they could save 50 percent off the ticket
price and more than a quarter (28 percent) of consumers would actually stand
rather than sit if it meant they could save 50 percent on an airline ticket.
Travelzoo's producers have made it easy for travelers by working with over 900
travel companies to review and publish the best deals in the market. Below are
sample deals for travel this summer:
South Beach, Miami - The ultra-chic Shore Club is offering a Spa
Package for $195 that includes overnight accommodations in one of
the hotel's stylish rooms, a choice between a Swedish massage or
an aromatic manicure and pedicure, and complimentary drinks at
Skybar, the trendiest bar in South Beach. This is a savings of
over 40% and includes over $250 in extras.
New York City - The Helmsley Hotel, located in Midtown Manhattan,
is offering City View rooms for $235 per night including a $35
dining credit. This is over 40 percent off regular rates of up to
$495 per night.
New Orleans - Harrah's New Orleans, a AAA 4-Diamond property, is
offering rooms for $149 per night including 2 breakfast buffets,
1000 Bonus Reward Credits and a gift certificate to Cafe du

adults (aged 18 and older) via a nationally representative online survey. Quotas
were set to ensure reliable and accurate representation of the total U.S.
population ages 18 and older.
