Netvibes Partners With China's Premier Network of Web Properties, Sohu, and Web Browser, Maxthon, to Promote the Global Exchange of Universal Widgets

SAN FRANCISCO--(Business Wire)--From desktops to personalized pages, social networks and mobile
phones, the Netvibes Universal Widget API (UWA) has pioneered the
rapid distribution of universal widgets across the web and mobile
devices. Today, Netvibes announces that it has partnered with Sohu,
China's premier network of web properties, and Maxthon, China's most
popular web browser, to expand its Universal Widget platform across
Asia.

Netvibes Universal Widget API (UWA) enables developers to quickly
build universal widgets in just a few lines of code. Netvibes
universal widgets are cross-compatible with the web's leading widget
platforms from Apple, Google, Microsoft and Yahoo. The widgets are
automatically distributed across the Netvibes Ecosystem--the web's
largest network of universal widgets, featuring official partner
content from the world's leading media companies, such as CBS
Interactive, CNET China Group, Die Welt, Le Figaro, New York Times and
USA Today.

"Netvibes universal widgets are universal in every sense of the
word, by being both compatible with the web's largest widget platforms
and accessible to developers and consumers all over the world," said
Netvibes founder and CEO, Tariq Krim. "China represents the second
largest and fastest growing web economy in the world. Together with
Sohu and Maxthon, we are opening the path to a global widget economy
that flows between all platforms and countries worldwide."

Sohu is the foremost network of leading web properties and portals
in China and represents one of the biggest developer communities in
the world. Sohu announced its new Open Widget Platform on January 1,
2008, and held the first Sohu Open Widget Developer Forum two days
later. Sohu Open Widget Platform supports Netvibes UWA to empower its
developer community to rapidly develop and distribute universal
widgets across the web. All Netvibes Universal Widgets now are
compatible with the Sohu Open Platform and all Sohu universal widgets
will be distributed across the Netvibes Ecosystem.

"It's our mission to continually deliver the best technologies for
our developers and best content and services for our users. We chose
Netvibes UWA as an integral part of our widget strategy, because it
enables us to foster and exponentially accelerate the growth of the
widget economy across Asia," said Sohu Product Manager, Wenyi Zhang.

Maxthon is used by more than 30% of Internet users in China to
browse the Web, and it is growing rapidly in the U.S. and other
countries as word of mouth has spread through a network of
enthusiastic fans. One reason for its popularity is its integrated
widget platform, which has allowed users to develop their own
plug-ins, or widgets, to expand Maxthon's already impressive list of
features. Maxthon's platform is compatible with all widgets created
with Netvibes UWA.

"By utilizing the Netvibes Universal Widget platform, we can offer
anyone who uses our browser instant access to an incredible collection
of widgets from Netvibes and, at the same time, ensure that the latest
widget developments from all platforms are also available on Maxthon,"
said Jeff Chen, CEO of Maxthon International Ltd.

Last week, Netvibes won the Open Web Awards Judge's Choice Award
in the Start Pages category. Netvibes has recently been selected as a
finalist in the Best Design category of the inaugural Crunchies Awards
to be held on January 18, 2008, in San Francisco, CA.
