Eco-Products Engages Its Next Generation of Leadership
New CEO Poised to Lead Company as It Swiftly Expands Its Product Line and Reach BOULDER, Colo.--(Business Wire)-- Eco-Products, the nation`s leading brand of food service ware made from renewable resources, today announced the hire of Bob King as CEO. With decades of experience in rapid growth environments including B-to-B and retail, King`s background will allow the company to continue its swift expansion at a time when mainstream consumers are demanding greener options in nearly all of their purchases. King is best known for his leadership of Corporate Express as COO and then as CEO during the company`s explosive growth period from 1993 - 2001. During his tenure, Corporate Express grew from a $50 million regional supplier to a $4.5 billion international supplier. As the CEO at FoxMeyer Corporation, King`s leadership grew the company to be the third largest distributor of pharmaceuticals and health and beauty aids in the U.S. "Eco-Products is in the perfect position to expand, offering sustainable disposables through additional channels reaching more consumers," said King. "I`m eager to apply my expertise to help the company fulfill its mission." A two-generation family business founded in 1990, Steve Savage served as president since 1999 and led triple-digit growth for the company the past three years. "We`ve grown from a small company selling recycled office supplies to a multi-million dollar outfit providing 100 eco-friendly products to thousands of clients," said founder, Steve Savage. "We are ready for Bob`s skillful leadership to guide Eco-Products to the next level." Making it easy for the food service and hospitality industries to be green, Eco-Products` rising sales are impressive. They recently ranked first in the Boulder County Business Report`s Mercury 100 Fastest-Growing Companies by increasing revenue 535 percent over the past two years. This summer Eco-Products entered the retail channel for the first time with its new "GreenStripe" product line, providing cups and plates made from renewable resources at King Soopers supermarkets, a division of Kroger. Eco-Products has also launched an aggressive public education campaign, The Million Gallon Challenge, to increase awareness of the environmental impact of food service disposables. By tracking the equivalent gallons of gasoline saved when food service operators choose products made from renewable resources, the campaign has already saved the equivalent of 572,340 gallons of gasoline since January 2009.
