33 Start-Ups out of 120 Competing Companies Have Just Been
Short-Listed for the Competition Organised as Part of Leweb3
PARIS--(Business Wire)--On 11 and 12 December, following the initiative by Geraldine and
Loic Le Meur, the 4th edition of LeWeb3 (www.leweb3.com) will be held
in Paris - Les Docks de Paris (Porte de la Chapelle). This event
represents Europe's largest gathering of bloggers with
1 500 participants and brings together the key players in the Internet
as well as innovative entrepreneurs.

Once again this year, LeWeb3 is focusing the spotlight on
entrepreneurship with the Start-Up Competition, organised in
partnership with leading French TV channel TF1, which is aimed at
promoting new initiatives. The 33 finalists will have chance to
present their project in a dedicated area - the Start-Up Corner - in
front of a jury of 25 opinion leaders, journalists, entrepreneurs and
investors.

The five winners will take part in the plenary session held on the
2nd day before LeWeb3's 1 500 participants. Their profile boost will
serve as a platform for finding sources of funding and help them to
quickly gain awareness in the Internet sector. Furthermore, TF1 will
give one of the five winners a special "TF1 Group director coaching"
award.

To ensure that the start-up business spectrum is evenly
represented, the competing companies have been divided into four
categories - B2B/enterprise, video, mobile and consumer. Their
geographic origins have also been taken into account for a more
effective worldwide representation.

The criteria chosen by the jury include:

-- What problem is the company looking to resolve? Is the company
breaking out into an existing, growing or emerging market?

-- Is the solution/service proposed by the company really
        differentiating?

-- Does the company have a clearly defined economic model?

-- Is there a real-life demonstration of the benefits of the
        solution?

-- Is the company going to present itself as a new entity or is
        it announcing a new product/service?

   About LeWeb3:

The first edition of LeWeb3 was masterminded by Loic Le Meur
(http://loiclemeur.com/France). The idea is simple: turn Paris into
the world's Internet and blog capital for two days.

In 2006, LeWeb3 was a sell-out. Shimon Peres opened an edition
featuring 1 350 participants from 36 countries, who had come to
exchange points of view during talks involving Niklas Zennstrom -
founder of Kazaa and Skype, Reid Hoffman - founder of LinkedIn, Tariq
Krim - founder of Netvibes, and Marc Simoncini - founder of Meetic...

   LeWeb3 today is Europe's leading Internet-dedicated event.
