Rite Aid Promotes Dan Miller to Senior Vice President, Pharmacy Operations; Karen Staniforth to Vice President, Pharmacy Operations

CAMP HILL, Pa.--(Business Wire)--
Rite Aid Corporation (NYSE:RAD) announced today that Dan Miller, formerly Vice
President, Pharmacy Operations, has been promoted to Senior Vice President,
Pharmacy. 

The company also announced that Karen Staniforth, formerly Regional Pharmacy
Vice President, has been promoted to Vice President, Pharmacy Operations. 

Miller, 53, a pharmacist and 30-year veteran of retail pharmacy, will be
responsible for day-to-day pharmacy store operations with a focus on execution
and customer service, clinical pharmacy programs, pharmacy acquisitions and
pharmacy technology initiatives. Miller reports to Robert I. Thompson, Rite Aid
Executive Vice President, Pharmacy. Staniforth, 48, a pharmacist with more than
20 years experience in retail pharmacy, will oversee and support field pharmacy
operations as well as pharmacy standards of practice, regulatory compliance,
policies and procedures. She reports to Miller.

Miller began his chain drug career in 1977 as a pharmacy intern with Thrift
Drug, promoted into various district management positions with increasing
responsibilities until the company was acquired by Eckerd Drug Company in 1997.
During his seven-year tenure with the company, Miller served as district
operations manager, pharmacy operations manager and pharmacy services manager
before being named Vice President, Pharmacy Operations in 2001. The company was
acquired by the Jean Coutu Group in 2004 and Miller was named Vice President,
Pharmacy Operations of Brooks Eckerd Pharmacy. He joined Rite Aid in June, 2007
as Vice President, Pharmacy Operations, with Rite Aid`s acquisition of Brooks
Eckerd. Miller holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from Duquesne
University. 

Staniforth started her career in pharmacy in 1982 as a pharmacist in
Johannesburg, South Africa. In 1991, she joined Novartis Pharmaceuticals as a
Regional Sales Manager, overseeing all retail sales operations for the company
for Cape Town, South Africa. She joined Rite Aid in 1998 as a graduate pharmacy
intern after moving to the United States. She continued to take on roles of
increasing leadership, becoming a pharmacy manager in 1999. In 2001, she was
promoted to pharmacy district manager where she served until being named
Regional Pharmacy Vice President in 2006. She is a graduate of Witwatersrand
Technikon, Johannesburg, South Africa, where she received a degree in Pharmacy.
