Spigit Named 'Cool Vendor' in the High Performance Workplace by Leading
Analyst Firm
Vendors selected for the 'Cool Vendor report' are innovative, impactful and
intriguing

PLEASANTON, Calif., April 8, 2008 /PRNewswire/ -- Spigit, a leader in
social productivity software for the enterprise, announced that it has been
named a Cool Vendor in "Cool Vendors in the High Performance Workplace, 2008"
by Gartner, Inc. The report issued on April 4, 2008 lists spigit as one of
five companies included for seeking "to optimize social communities by
bringing down barriers through more effective interfaces and by bridging some
Web 2.0 product gaps that have frustrated and isolated some users."
Gartner defines a "cool vendor" as a company that offers technologies or
solutions that are: Innovative, enable users to do things they couldn't do
before; Impactful, have, or will have, business impact (not just technology
for the sake of technology); Intriguing, have caught Gartner's interest or
curiosity in the past six months.
The "Cool Vendor in the High Performance Workplace, 2008" report, which
was authored by Gartner analysts Toby Bell, Tom Austin, Anthony Bradley and
Brian Prentice, include the following key findings:
-- Social communities are essential concepts both on the Web and in
        enterprises
-- Improving the value of communities requires new and improved
analytical tools that can infer relationships between people, roles,
relationships and information of mutual benefit
-- Social analytics, expertise location, interenterprise meeting
coordination, enterprise Internet reputation management (EIRM) and
contextually intelligent collaborative authoring are all more than
buzzwords. They are part of a trend toward spanning the gulfs that
keep people and information apart - and to manage the outcomes
        resulting from increased interactions online.

"Web 2.0 technology is about building social communities, but the truth is
that many are not built to provide easy and elegant interaction between
users," said Tom Austin, VP and Gartner Fellow in the report. "Cool Vendors
in the High Performance Workplace collectively add value by bringing people,
their ideas, and their social and business interactions into better context."
"We are honored to be selected by Gartner as a Cool Vendor as recognition
of what we have accomplished to date," said Paul Pluschkell, CEO and founder
of spigit. "Customer needs are constantly changing and companies need to
innovate faster than ever. Spigit provides the platform for enterprises to
take advantage of their scale and become more efficient, more innovative, and
increase revenue and bottom-line growth."
Spigit is the only social productivity platform that moves beyond popular
