The Rumbo publications, previously published by Meximerica Media, Inc.,
will remain full-color, Spanish-language tabloid newspapers. The Rumbo
newspapers have relentlessly pursued an editorial mission to provide excellent
journalism that is relevant and entertaining to Hispanics while helping
readers to adapt and prosper in the U.S. Rumbo was named one of the three
best U.S. Hispanic papers by the National Association of Hispanic Publishers
in 2006.
"We will continue Rumbo's mission of providing the Hispanic community in
Houston, San Antonio and the Rio Grande Valley with unsurpassed journalism,"
said John Paton, Chairman & CEO of ImpreMedia. "We look forward to furthering
that mission and building the Rumbo newspapers using the combined resources of
our company."
The addition of Rumbo to ImpreMedia's impressive list of Spanish-language
online sites and print publications expands ImpreMedia's reach for advertisers
in the top 10 U.S. Hispanic markets. The Texas Hispanic population -- the
second largest in the country -- represents 35.3% of the state's 23 million
people.
"Acquiring Rumbo's network of newspapers in Texas expands ImpreMedia's
national footprint to 7 of top 10 Hispanic markets, which allows ImpreMedia to
provide advertisers a larger, national platform to present their brand
messages while building sales volume locally," said Erich Linker, Senior Vice
President of Sales for ImpreMedia.
