ThoughtWorks Presents New Online IT Magazine, alphaITjournal.com
New Site Focused on IT Investments that Yield Outsized Returns CHICAGO--(Business Wire)-- Global software developer and IT consultancy ThoughtWorks today announced that it will be the sole sponsor of alphaITjournal.com, a new online magazine focused on the execution, management and governance of IT investments that can yield outsized (or "alpha") returns. AlphaITjournal.com will launch on July 8, 2008 and be edited by Ross Pettit, a longtime technology professional who has held positions including COO, Managing Director, and CTO, and who has deep experience developing and overseeing enterprise applications. Pettit is also a frequent speaker and active blogger on topics of IT management, governance and innovation. "Today, IT is usually managed to contain costs, not to maximize impact, and the lion's share of those costs are purchased like utilities, no differently than water or electricity. The high end of IT doesn't lend itself to this approach," explains Pettit. "It's characterized by continuous problem solving, not rote execution. Business impact from IT happens--or doesn't--as a result of how these investments are delivered, and enhancing this delivery is the aim of alphaITjournal.com." AlphaITjournal.com will be updated weekly with articles on the principles and practices of execution, management and governance that define IT as a high-value-added business capability, not a low-value-added utility. "The magazine will have no press releases, commercial whitepapers, or academic research, and all articles will be written by practitioners, for practitioners" says Pettit. Articles will have a 1,000-word limit to ensure that all alphaITjournal.com content is concise, direct and easy to read on both PCs and mobile devices. Practitioners interested in contributing articles or writing an ongoing column should send an email to rpettit@thoughtworks.com or visit the site at www.alphaITjournal.com About ThoughtWorks ThoughtWorks is a global IT consultancy focused on software development and delivery.
