CliniComp, Intl. Helps DoD Meet Congressional Mandate to Implement Solution at a
Hospital in Each of the U.S. Army, Navy and Air Force Health Services by Oct. 1,
2009
SAN DIEGO--(Business Wire)--
CliniComp Intl., a global provider of clinical documentation systems, announced
today that David Grant USAF Medical Center (DGMC) at Travis Air Force Base,
Calif., went live with its Essentris inpatient clinical documentation solution
on Sept. 28, 2009.

"The implementation was extremely smooth," said Maj. William Fecke, Chief,
Medical Information Systems at DGMC. "The go-live is a critical milestone for
us, as we strive to leverage information technology to further enhance care
delivery, patient safety and outcomes by enabling clinicians at DGMC to make
faster and more informed decisions while sharing data with other MTFs in the DoD
and VA health systems."

The clinical documentation system deployment at DGMC includes Essentris CPOE
(Computerized Provider Order Entry), Essentris GDR (Global Data Repository) and
Essentris OnWatch (clinical surveillance) in the medical/surgical, intensive
care and medical health units. In the near future the hospital, which is
currently staffed to operate 84 inpatient beds that can be expanded to 176, will
implement Essentris in the emergency department, perinatal, same-day surgery and
post-anesthesia care units.

"The 6-week installation is a significant achievement for CliniComp, as it
underscores the efficiency of our implementation methodology, scalability of
Essentris and our ability to roll out the system to hundreds of clinicians at
the same time across several facilities," said Alan Portela, CliniComp`s
president. "We are very pleased to partner with the DoD to improve quality and
safety not only at a facility-wide level but also across the military continuum
of care."

The deployment of the Essentris EMR at DGMC was part of a contract DoD recently
awarded CliniComp to provide clinical documentation solutions to 36 MTFs over
the next 24 months. The department selected DGMC along with General Leonard Wood
Army Community Hospital, Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., and Naval Hospital Bremerton
(Wash.) as the first MTFs to receive the Essentris system.

CliniComp`s Essentris system is a multidisciplinary suite of solutions comprised
of intelligent, inpatient clinical documentation; computerized provider order
entry (CPOE); data repository, and decision support tools for hospitals with
both low and high acute care specialties and complex environments including
MTFs, academic medical centers and integrated delivery networks. The solution
streamlines clinical workflows, simplifies access to unified patient data and
helps organizations build a true longitudinal patient health record.
