CAPITAL Brings Together 2008 Sacramento Mayoral Candidates and the Asian Pacific Islander Community
-- Mayor Heather Fargo and Mayoral Candidate Kevin Johnson to
Speak at March 8 CAPITAL Meeting
SACRAMENTO, Calif.--(Business Wire)--
In 2002, the City of Sacramento was labeled "America's Most
Diverse City" by Time Magazine due to its colorful array of ethnic and
linguistic diversity. Part of Sacramento's diversity comes from the
strong Asian Pacific Islander (API) community and its remarkable
heterogeneity of backgrounds. Sacramento is home to over 100,000 API
individuals.
One of the leading API community-based organizations in Sacramento
is the Council of Asian Pacific Islanders Together for Advocacy and
Leadership (CAPITAL). This Saturday, March 8, CAPITAL welcomes
two-term, incumbent Mayor of Sacramento Heather Fargo and Kevin
Johnson, former NBA all-star and 2008 Sacramento mayoral candidate, to
share their vision for Sacramento and the role of the API community
with CAPITAL membership.
The CAPITAL meeting is
Saturday, March 8, 2008
9:00 a.m. - Noon
7000 - 65th Street, Sacramento, CA
"We are looking forward to an informative meeting with both
candidates as well as sharing our communities' issues with them. There
is power with information," said Dr. Sonney Chong, Chair of CAPITAL.
Mayor Heather Fargo said, "I have been a frequent visitor to
CAPITAL and value our working relationship. CAPITAL is a critical
voice for the Asian Pacific Islander organizations and community and I
look forward to another opportunity to speak about any issues
regarding the City, as we always have."
Kevin Johnson also looks to the future and saidys he is "honored
to appear in front of CAPITAL as they represent respected leadership
in Sacramento. I look forward to a long term relationship with
CAPITAL."
