Capella University to Participate in Department of Veterans Affairs Yellow Ribbon Tuition Assistance Program for Members of the Military
The online university has set no limits on the number of students who can participate in the program or which degree programs they can pursue MINNEAPOLIS--(Business Wire)-- Capella University (www.capella.edu), an accredited*, fully online university that has built its reputation by providing quality education for working adults, has announced that it will participate in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Yellow Ribbon program for the 2009-10 GI Bill year. More than 1,500 Capella students currently use veterans benefits. The Yellow Ribbon Program is a partnership between the VA and Capella University that will allow veterans eligible for the new Post-9/11 GI Bill at the 100 percent tier to attend Capella with no out-of-pocket expense to themselves. Capella will subsidize half of the tuition expense not covered by the Post-9/11 GI Bill for graduate students, and the VA will make up the remaining balance. Tuition for undergraduate students is completely covered under the Post-9/11 GI Bill, and they will be able to attend Capella at no cost, and therefore do not need the assistance of the Yellow Ribbon program. Capella has set no limits on how many students may participate in the Yellow Ribbon program, or set caps on tuition expenses that can be incurred. Capella students who participate in the Yellow Ribbon can enroll in any of the university`s online degreeprograms at the graduate level. "This is the first program of its kind, and it will allow countless veterans to be able to maximize their benefits and meet their educational goals. Capella is proud to be a charter partner in this endeavor," said Nicole Lovald, head of Capella University`s Armed Forces and Veterans Support services.
