WILMINGTON, Del., Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- The Indian Institute of Management
Ahmedabad (IIMA) and Tycoon Systems announce the successful conclusion of
"Mousetrap 2009" - a global business strategy competition held each year
during the run-up to IIMA's "Confluence" summit.
Mousetrap 2009 is an on-line business simulation tournament, presented by IIMA
and Microsoft Corporation, involving 1,800 business school students across the
globe. For the fourth year in a row the business game was provided by Tycoon
Systems - using its successful IndustryMasters platform.
"We used the IndustryMasters simulation for Mousetrap 2009 - which is
apparently the only "real- time" simulation available at present. This real
time-aspect is what makes IndustryMasters a simulation of choice for use in
the fast paced yet acumen based setting of Mousetrap,'' said Professor Atanu
Ghosh, Faculty Coordinator at IIMA.
"Confluence 09" is IIMA's annual International Business School Summit - and
one of Asia's largest business school festivals - runs from 27th to 29th
November 2009. Delegates will hear from an impressive list of speakers on this
year's conference theme: "Survive, Sustain, Succeed." Presentations will be
made by many prominent decision makers including Mr Rajat M. Nag (Asian
Development Bank), Prof. Anil Gupta (IIM Ahmedbad), Ms Meenu Handa (Microsoft
India), Mr. Gurcharan Das (Procter and Gamble India) and Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam
(Former President, Republic of India).
'Mousetrap' is one of the flagship events of IIMA's Confluence conference,
alongside other student competitions such as 'Masterplan', 'Corporate Combat'
and 'Globalization Challenge'. 'Mousetrap' put students into the role of
running a simulated corporation from January 2008 until December 2012. It
addressed fundamental business issues such as lower profit margins due to an
increased level of competition in world markets, rising commodity prices and
the increasing relevance of sustainable strategies in order to build
competitive advantage.
