His Royal Highness Prince Andrew, The Duke of York, Visits Avery Dennison Corporate Center

PASADENA, Calif.--(Business Wire)--
His Royal Highness Prince Andrew, The Duke of York, met today with
Dean A. Scarborough, president and chief executive officer of Avery
Dennison, and other Company senior managers to discuss new Radio
Frequency Identification (RFID) technology that the company is
providing London-based retailer, Marks & Spencer.

RFID electronic devices are used to improve efficiency in
inventory tracking in retail stores and outlets. RFID item level
tagging has reduced stocking time from 7.5 hours to 1 hour at Marks &
Spencer stores.

"I understand the relationship between Avery Dennison and Marks &
Spencer is an extremely important one," said His Royal Highness. "It's
another example of several I've heard so far on this visit of US and
UK companies working together to benefit both our economies."

His Royal Highness' meeting at Avery Dennison was in his capacity
as United Kingdom Special Representative for International Trade and
Investment. His aim is to help foster good business relationships
between California-based companies and the United Kingdom.

"It was a great honor to meet His Royal Highness and discuss how
RFID technology is making it easier and more cost efficient for retail
companies like Marks & Spencer to better serve their customers,"
Scarborough said. "This technology is playing a growing role in how
retailers track and market products to their customers. RFID is also a
growing segment of Avery Dennison's business with our production of
RFID inlays nearly tripling last year.

"I also enjoyed our discussion with His Royal Highness about Avery
Dennison's business in England and the United Kingdom, which goes back
to the early years of the Company," he added. "We continue to have a
significant presence in Great Britain, where we established our first
label license holder in 1947 and opened our first roll materials
factory in 1964."

Avery Dennison is a global leader in pressure-sensitive labeling
materials, retail tag, ticketing and branding systems, and office
products. Based in Pasadena, Calif., Avery Dennison is a FORTUNE 500
Company with 2007 sales of $6.3 billion. Avery Dennison employs more
