Razor Resources Inc. Announces Signing of Letter of Intent
MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif.--(Business Wire)--Razor Resources Inc. - RZOR (OTCBB:RZRR) ("Razor Resources" or the
"Company"). The company is pleased to announce it has entered into a
Letter of Intent ("LOI") to acquire 35 claims on 3 properties in 2
areas of Quebec, Canada, an area that ranks as one of the highest for
mineral production in Canada. The properties are in 2 distinct areas
of the Province. The first property is 9 claims in the Lac Simard area
("The Lac Simard Property") in the township of Delbreuil in the
Pontiac Subprovince. The other 2 properties are in the Fort-Coulonge
area of the Grenville Subprovince; 20 claims in the Township of
Mansfield ("The Mansfied Property") and 6 claims in the Township of
Pontefract ("The Pontefract Property"). The LOI calls for exploration
expenditures of at least $75,000, the granting of a $100,000 USD note
payable, and 1,000,000 common shares of the capital stock of the
company to be issued in consideration of the properties on completion
of a definitive agreement.
The Pontiac Subprovince - The Lac Simard Property
The Pontiac Subprovince starts at the end of the Grenville
province and extends all the way up to the Abitibi Subprovince. It
contains terrigenous sedimentary rocks, mafic to ultramafic volcanic
rocks and plutonic rocks metamorphosed from the greenschist facies to
the lower amphibolite facies. Numerous pegmatic dykes associated with
late intrusive phases cut across that granitoids and sediments. (Botly
et al, 1989) Two granitoid suites are present in the Pontiac
Subprovince, the oldest consists of monzodiorite granodiorite and
syenite, and the youngest is composed of muscovite-garnet granite.
(Dusharme et al, 1997)
The most recent work in this area was done in the 1980s and
consisted mostly of grassroots exploration, with very little work done
prior to that. A report generated by the Ministry of Natural Resources
of Quebec by government geologists, Lucie Ste-Croix and Pierre Doucet,
in November 2001
(http://www.mrnf.gouv.qc.ca/english/publications/mines/potential/
pro_2001-09.pdf) (Due to its length, this URL may need to be
copied/pasted into your Internet browser's address field. Remove the
extra space if one exists.) describe assay grades of 83% U3O8 and 5.8%
Ta2O5 and 2.1% Li. in the area. The assay grades of the Lac Simard
property show it has the potential to represent one of the highest
grade Uranium finds ever discovered, and there is potential for the
discovery of other rare metals. The Company will be aggressively
pursuing exploration in this area as it represents an amazing
opportunity for Razor Resources and its shareholders.
The Fort Coulonge area of the Grenville Subprovince - The
Pontefract Property and The Mansfield Property
These properties occur in the Grenville Province and contain
highly deformed and magmatized pararagneiss, biotite-amphibole rich
schist and occasional carbonate rich horizons that now form marble and
calc-silicate skarns. Late in its orogenic history, the region was
intruded by granite and syenite batholiths, plutons and related
pegmatite dikes. Uranium and associate molybdenum and rare metal (Nb,
Ta, Hi, REE) mineralisation appears related to the emplacement of
those granitoid complexes.
The first block of six hundred acres is in the Pontefract Township
and ties on to the former workings of Carling Copper, where they
encountered ten feet of two pounds U308 in diamond drilling. No work
has ever been done on this property. The second block of two thousand
acres is very well located in Mansfield Township where the Federal
Government aerial-radiometric survey outlined extremely high uranium
values.
Uranium mineralisation was first discovered in the area in 1907,
but the area was not actively explored until 1953 with the discovery
of the Yates Uranium deposit. At the Yates property, uranium
mineralisation is hosted in pink calcite veins and associated
pegmatite dikes, which intrude marble units and develop at their
margins very coarse grain skarn. The skarn hosts large phlogopite,
diopside, apatite crystals and uraninite crystals. Large euhedral
uraninite grains are also found in the pegmatite.
In 1975, interest in uranium exploration was renewed with the
release of the Federal-Provincial aerial-radiometric survey maps.
These maps, in addition to reactivating activity on the old showings,
also initiated a flurry of new work. Several different and new types
of uranium occurences hosted in pegmatite- and granitoid-related
intrusive and migmatic bodies, as well as in shear zones, were
identified. Ground-based scintillometer and radon pot surveys were
undertaken to isolate the aerial anomolies, and these were tested by
drilling. Almost no geological mapping was undertaken on these
properties.
Given the price of Uranium during this period, results were not
encouraging, and activity in the region stopped by 1985. With today's
Uranium prices and a better understanding of sampling procedures that
take into consideration the influence of grain size in determining the
required sample size for representative assay grades, Razor Resources
believes that the Fort Colounge area has not been properly examined
and has the potential to host large tonnage, low grade Uranium
deposits. The 26 claims are well distributed around the Fort Colounge
area in 3 defined zones, providing a greater opportunity of
intersecting the 5 distinct belts of Uranium that run though the area.
