Robert Minnear to Senior Management Team
Executives combine expertise in network engineering, product management and
business development with proven success in driving long-term profitable
growth
ATLANTA, Oct. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Internap Network Services
Corporation (Nasdaq: INAP), a global provider of end-to-end Internet business
solutions, today announced two new additions to its senior management team.
Scott Hrastar has been named senior vice president of IP services and will be
responsible for leading business, engineering and product development
initiatives for the company's IP and Content Delivery Network (CDN) Services
product units. Robert Minnear has been appointed vice president of engineering
and will drive strategy and execution across the Internap engineering
organization.
"Scott and Bobby bring to Internap a powerful combination of industry-specific
experience along with a focus on driving sustainable profitability," said
Internap President and CEO, Eric Cooney. "What impressed us the most was that
each has a demonstrated track record of combining technical expertise with
leadership skill that will enable us to bring the best possible IP services
and CDN solutions to market efficiently and profitably."
Hrastar has more than 20 years of technical and management experience in the
IP networking industry. Before joining Internap, he served as
entrepreneur-in-residence at Georgia Tech University's Advanced Technology
Development Center where he provided counsel to many early stage companies.
His career includes roles of increasing responsibility in research and
development as well as product and business management with global leaders in
the technology, scientific and defense industries, including AirDefense Inc.,
where he was founder, chief technical officer, and senior vice president of
product development. He also held senior roles at Hitachi Telecom, Lancope,
Pathfire, and Scientific Atlanta, among others. Hrastar holds a bachelor's
degree in electrical engineering from Ohio State University and a doctoral
degree in electrical engineering from Georgia Tech. He holds 25 patents and
currently has seven patents pending.
With nearly 20 years of experience in the IP networking and CDN industries,
Minnear comes to Internap after leading engineering initiatives at Asankya, a
cloud-acceleration services company. Over the course of his career, he has
held numerous development and leadership positions, including overseeing the
IP routing team at Ipsilon Networks, an early developer of tag switching
capabilities that were the precursor to MPLS routing. He founded Springbank
Networks, a startup company focused on developing CDNs for ISPs, which was
later acquired by WAN application delivery leader Blue Coat Systems. He also
spent four years at Tall Maple Systems, where he led the development of
application management platforms for Internet appliances. Minnear began his
focus on IP networking while obtaining his master's degree at Purdue
University, continuing this emphasis at MIT where he worked to address quality
of service for IP infrastructures with some of the experts that were key to
defining the early TCP/IP protocol.
"The expansion of the senior management team with experienced industry
executives like Scott and Bobby is part of a larger strategy to ensure that
Internap continues to provide the innovation and solutions required to power
Internet-based applications," said Cooney. "The success of key industry trends
-- such as VoIP, unified communications, cloud computing, and virtualized
applications -- is inextricably tied to highly predictable and available IP
networking with a guarantee of performance. At Internap, we will continue to
lead, innovate and deliver on the promise of predictable IP network
performance."
