Scholarship America Announces Resignation of President & CEO, Dr. Clifford L.
Stanley
Stanley Served the Nonprofit for Five Years as its Chief Executive

MINNEAPOLIS, July 14 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Dr. Clifford L. Stanley, Major
General, USMC (Retired), president & CEO of Scholarship America(R), the
nation's largest scholarship and educational support organization, announced
that he will leave the organization effective July 31.

"During my five years as CEO of Scholarship America, we have helped countless
students gain access to higher education," said Stanley. "It has been an honor
and a privilege to work with the staff, volunteers and funders who are so
passionate about assuring that postsecondary education is possible for all
students. While my passion remains undiminished for this organization's good
work, this decision gives me time to consider new opportunities that will
further my service to our nation, which has been my life's work and
dedication."

"I am confident that Scholarship America will continue to provide unparalleled
support to students through its programs and services," Stanley added.

"The board accepts Dr. Stanley's decision with understanding and great
appreciation for his service," said Mim Schreck, Chair of Scholarship
America's Board of Trustees. "Under his leadership, Scholarship America became
financially stronger, improved its governance, increased the sales of our
Scholarship Management Services and attracted new sources of funding for
programs and scholarships, such as the highly successful Dreamkeepers
Emergency Financial Assistance program."

Schreck, who has served on Scholarship America's board for six years and as
chair since May, 2008, has agreed to act as Scholarship America's interim
president while the Board of Trustees engages in a search for Stanley's
successor. While she assumes the duties of President of Scholarship America,
Schreck will step down as chair, but will remain on the board. Immediate Past
Chair, Dick Schwab, will return to his post as Chair until the search is
complete.

The search for Stanley's successor will begin immediately.

In addition, Scholarship America is pleased to announce that it will award a
scholarship in Dr. Stanley's name, in recognition of his five years of
outstanding service. Donations will be accepted via the organization's Web
site, www.scholarshipamerica.org or by phoning 800-279-2083.

Scholarship America was founded in 1958 by Dr. Irving Fradkin, an optometrist
in Fall River, Mass., who was running for school board. His platform was
education, and his promise was that if every citizen of Fall River donated $1,
they could afford to send all of their graduating seniors to college. While
Fradkin lost the election, his dream lived on. To date, more than $2 billion
has been awarded to nearly 2 million students through Scholarship America's
programs and services.
