Winston & Strawn Adds High Profile Litigators in Charlotte and D.C.

Prominent Litigator T. Thomas Cottingham III Brings Team to Winston




CHARLOTTE, N.C. and WASHINGTON, July 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Winston & Strawn LLP
announced today that prominent litigator T. Thomas Cottingham III and a team
of several other attorneys have joined the firm from Hunton & Williams LLP. 
The group is comprised of three partners:  Cottingham, Nash E. Long III and
John M. (Jay) Holloway III; and one of counsel, Jack M. Knight Jr.  A number
of additional lawyers are expected to join in the coming weeks.  With the
exception of Holloway, the team will practice in the Charlotte office. 
Holloway joins the environmental practice in Washington, D.C., and will
continue to work closely with the Charlotte litigation team.

Winston & Strawn entered the Charlotte market in January 2008 with six
partners.  In the last year and a half, the office has grown to 22 attorneys. 
In the past year the firm has added 11 lateral litigation partners across
seven of its offices.

Charlotte Office

T. Thomas Cottingham III  was previously the managing partner of Hunton &
Williams' Charlotte office and head of its securities/financial institutions
litigation practice.  He represents national and multinational corporations in
jury trials, class actions and alternative dispute resolution involving
environmental, consumer law, intellectual property and patent, securities,
antitrust, lender liability, product liability and commercial contract
disputes.  He has tried more than 100 cases in state and federal courts,
before arbitration panels and administrative agencies across the United
States.  His clients include national energy companies and utilities and major
financial institutions.  He is ranked in the Chambers USA Directory for
litigation.  Cottingham earned his juris doctor, cum laude, from Cornell Law
School.

Nash E. Long III focuses his practice on complex litigation including
arbitrations, jury trials, bench trials and class actions related to
environmental, business torts, commercial contract, intellectual property,
construction, consumer law and product liability disputes.  He frequently
serves as lead counsel in representing utilities, financial institutions,
contractors, energy companies, and manufacturers.  While at Harvard Law
School, where Long graduated magna cum laude, he served as research assistant
to renowned professor and constitutional law expert Laurence Tribe.

Jack M. Knight Jr. concentrates his practice on internal investigations,
corporate compliance, commercial litigation, white collar criminal defense of
corporations and individuals, Grand Jury investigations and civil litigation,
and regularly advises corporations on compliance issues.  A former federal and
state prosecutor, he has served as lead counsel on numerous trials and has
tried more than 50 cases before a jury.  Knight earned his juris doctor, cum
laude, from American University.

Washington, D.C. Office

John M. (Jay) Holloway III focuses his practice on environmental issues,
energy matters, administrative law and commercial transactions particularly in
the areas of energy, procurement and construction contracting.  He advises
energy and industrial clients on Clean Air Act, state air pollution laws and
other environmental regulations.  Holloway has significant experience serving
as lead counsel in New Source Review (NSR) enforcement cases, and has
negotiated settlements in several federal and state NSR and acid rain
enforcement actions.  He has successfully litigated and resolved many appeals
of state enforcement and permitting actions.  Holloway holds a juris doctor,
cum laude, from University of Richmond School of Law.
