Portable, Energy Efficient Micro-Appliance Deploys in Minutes, and Tells IT
Leaders Everything They Need to Know About Web Performance Inside the Firewall
and Beyond
COCONUT CREEK, Fla.--(Business Wire)--
Web performance monitoring just got easier and more economical for businesses
and IT professionals everywhere. Today AlertSite introduced its next-generation
InSite by AlertSite monitoring solution, a portable micro-appliance that
contains everything you need to monitor and measure Web performance. The new
device`s small size and light weight make it easy to deploy in any location. And
its plug-and-go setup gives businesses a fast, complete view of Web site
performance and availability wherever they need it-whether that`s the data
center, a client`s site, a co-location, or elsewhere.

"IT and the business processes are increasingly getting intertwined," says
Milind Govekar, Research Vice President for Gartner. "Bad performance and poor
availability of IT applications have real business impact on companies` revenue,
reputation, partnerships and their ability to do business. Many companies that
have experienced application downtime due to poor performance or availability
have lost a significant amount of money and customers. Furthermore, companies
are also experiencing an increased cost of downtime. Thus, application
transaction monitoring tools are needed to monitor and assure application
availability and performance to the end user, thereby ensuring uninterrupted
business operation and lower cost of downtime."

InSite`s new micro-appliance comes preloaded and preconfigured with AlertSite`s
Web Site Performance Monitor, Business Transaction Monitor with DéjàClick,
E-mail Monitor, and Server Availability Monitor. Just unbox InSite and plug it
in to set up monitor locations and see availability, load times, and response
times of Web-based applications. By alerting IT when applications are
unavailable or running slowly, InSite enables companies to "tune up" their
online environment.

"InSite is now one of the smallest, most flexible monitoring solutions of its
kind," says Ken Gross, President and CEO of AlertSite. "We cut the size, weight,
and energy consumption, but we didn`t cut the features. It`s still fast and easy
to use, with our complete Web performance monitoring suite ready to deploy, and
now, it`s portable, too. There`s never been an easier way to compare internal
and external network metrics, diagnose performance issues by location, and
ensure maximum awareness of Web application availability."

The InSite micro-appliance is 75 percent smaller than the original appliance,
with a 10-inch by 8-inch by 2-inch footprint. Its 4-pound weight is 75 percent
less than the original unit. It also requires 90 percent less energy to operate,
consuming only 60W. The new micro-appliance supports up to 50 monitors.
AlertSite will continue to offer the original InSite appliance, which supports
up to 100 monitors.

InSite`s micro-appliance features the Intel Atom Processor inside, Intel`s
newest and smallest processor. It is the most energy efficient Intel CPU
available, yet provides all the computing power and performance required for
full Internet micro-appliance capabilities.
