This documentary was produced by CERISE FILMS, a new Chicago film production company. It was listed at Cannes and will be screened at the prestigious international creative and design show, SOFA.
It chronicles the fascinating life of a woman who has been a prisoner of war, a refugee, an immigrant, an American wife and mother, a renowned international painter and textile artist, and most recently, an unwitting hero of democracy, thanks to her creation of a new art museum and cultural center in her home town in Lithuania.

In addition to Ms. Monkute-Marks` story is the story of how the film came to be, thanks to a new production company, CERISE FILMS, founded and headed by Gail Gilbert, independent filmmaker and former editor, Chicago Magazine, and the subject`s own daughter-in-law, Dorothy Mackevich Marks, who served as executive producer.
