Vizada Receives Top Industry Award from Inmarsat for Greatest Overall Revenue Growth for 2009
Inmarsat Aeronautical, Leasing and Maritime Services Spur Revenues BERLIN--(Business Wire)-- Vizada, the leading independent provider of global satellite communications solutions, has received the award for the highest revenue growth of all Inmarsat mobile satellite distribution partners, with an increase of nine percent year over year since September 2008. This was primarily driven by an increase in demand for mobile satellite services among government aeronautical and commercial maritime customers. Vizada received the award at the Inmarsat Global Partner Conference 2009 in Berlin, Germany. Revenues generated by Inmarsat aeronautical services for Vizada increased nearly 50 percent from September 2008. "Vizada has consistently outperformed the market since it began supplying mobile satellite services to the aeronautical market more than twenty years ago, and today we are the leading provider of Inmarsat aeronautical services in the world," said Bob Baker, President and COO, Vizada Americas. "In addition to Inmarsat`s high quality aeronautical service portfolio, customers rely heavily on Vizada`s industry-best customer care and technical support." Vizada also registered a strong performance for the sale of mobile satellite services to the commercial shipping sector, with revenues increasing nine percent year over year. This comes amid a widely reported global financial crisis, with many businesses linked to the maritime transport sector experiencing a negative impact on sales. "The supply of reliable voice and data communications services on board ship is at the core of our activity, and we are delighted with these results despite the current unfavorable economic conditions," said Erik Ceuppens, CEO, Vizada EMEA. "One of the key drivers of this increase is the indirect sales strategy that we have maintained for a number of years - relying on our service providers` hands-on presence and expertise to sell to shipping companies in local markets worldwide." In April 2009 Vizada renewed its partnership with Inmarsat for the distribution of Inmarsat services over a five year period. These include "existing & evolved services" (Fleet, GAN, Swift,), new generation IP-based broadband services including BGAN, FleetBroadband and SwiftBroadband, as well as leased services. The new agreement ensures a continuation of the long-standing relationship that Vizada and Inmarsat have shared as partners for over three decades. Vizada adds to these Inmarsat services its own range of Vizada Solutions, which add business value to service providers and greater communications capability to end users. Vizada Vizada is the leading independent provider of global satellite communications, with more than $700 million in 2008 revenue, and more market share on more satellite networks than any other satellite communications provider in the world.
