WASHINGTON, July 13/PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Congressman Chaka Fattah (D-PA),
Chairman of the Congressional Urban Caucus, released the following statement
regarding Monday's White House meeting of urban policy experts and local
elected officials to open a dialogue on an agenda to address the challenges
facing the nation's major metropolitan areas:

our nation's history. Today he is making good on his pledge that the Obama
Administration will place the urban/metropolitan agenda in the forefront of
White House concerns.

"I have met with Adolfo Carrion Jr., the first director of the first-ever
White House Office of Urban Affairs. We talked about concerns in the Congress
and especially working together on those issues on the agenda of the
Congressional Urban Caucus.

"I applaud today's Urban and Metropolitan Policy Roundtable and look forward,
on behalf of the Congressional Urban Caucus, to working with the White House
to enact a long-overdue comprehensive urban policy agenda. The challenges and
opportunities that confront urban America are critical to the nation's
prosperity."
