COLUMBUS, OH, Jul 14 (MARKET WIRE) --
Consumer confidence is up among young Chinese consumers and more are
better off financially, according to BIGresearch's
(http://www.prosperchina.com/big.htm) 16th China Quarterly (9,861 18-34
year olds; 12,056 total respondents). 61.3% of Chinese consumers (18-34)
are confident/very confident in the economy (v. 51.8% Q1), likely due to
the success of the Chinese government's stimulus package. The rise in
consumer confidence seems to bode well for personal finances; 29.2% say
they are in a better financial position, up 12.5% from last quarter.

Measures in the China stimulus package regarding the auto market (such as
reduction in sales tax and rebates) appear to be having a positive impact
on purchase intentions. 19.7% of young Chinese are planning to buy a new
vehicle, up 14% from Q1 and 17.3% from last year. Chinese auto brands are
most preferred among this segment (46.2%); while 6.5% are considering an
American brand.
