TEWKSBURY, Mass. & FORNEBU, Norway--(Business Wire)--
Starent Networks, a leading provider of infrastructure solutions that enable
mobile operators to deliver broadband multimedia services, announced today that
Telenor Norway, Norway`s leading wireless provider, selected the company to
provide multimedia core network equipment for the carrier`s 2G, 3G/UMTS and
4G/LTE networks.

"This is the biggest upgrade of the mobile network in Norway we have ever
carried out. It will create a solid base for further developing the services
offered by the Telenor mobile network and the quality of those services. Our
main aim is to provide customers with better, more innovative services across
the country. This means better in terms of capacity, speed and stability,"
explains Ragnar Kårhus, CEO of Telenor Norway.

Telenor will deploy Starent`s market-leading Serving GPRS Support Node (SGSN)
and Gateway GPRS Support Node (GGSN) for the 2G and 3G/UMTS networks and
Mobility Management Entity (MME), Serving Gateway (SGW) and Packet Data Network
Gateway (PGW) for the 4G/LTE network on the ST40 multimedia core platform.
Additionally, Telenor`s network will utilize Starent`s Network-Based Traffic
Optimization In-Line Service.

"At Telenor, we look to deploy robust, innovative technology that will allow us
to enhance our customers` experience and deliver a wide range of services," said
Kårhus. "Starent Networks best fit this criteria by providing a high-performance
solution that integrates network intelligence, along with the ability to support
2G, 3G and 4G on a common core platform."

In the Nordic region, mobile broadband traffic is strong and the number of
advanced users is increasing. Telenor Norway will utilize Starent`s multimedia
core solutions to enable high-speed multimedia services such as video, digital
music, social networking and Internet on its networks.

"Telenor is one of the most successful and innovative global mobile operators,"
said Ashraf Dahod, president and chief executive officer of Starent Networks.
"We are very excited to work with them on providing broadband multimedia
services to their customers in Norway and are committed to their success. To be
selected for their complete network from 2G to 3G and next generation 4G/LTE is
