Local School Leaders to Join Governor Rendell to Call for Adequate Education Funding
Local School Leaders to Join Governor Rendell to Call for Adequate Education Funding Governor Edward G. Rendell will join education officials at separate events in Cumberland and Adams counties on Tuesday, July 7, to discuss the need for this year's state budget to provide adequate resources to schools in order to avoid local property tax increases, program cuts and possible teacher staff reductions. The events will highlight what is at stake for local property taxpayers and students by contrasting the education investments Governor Rendell has proposed and a spending plan Senate Republicans adopted in May that included more than $1 billion in cuts to state education funding. Participants also will discuss how responsible use of federal stimulus funds for education can contribute to long-term economic development.
