Solicitor of Labor Gregory F. Jacob Joins Winston & Strawn in Washington, D.C.

Most recently, Jacob served as the Solicitor of Labor, the chief legal officer and third-ranking official of the U.S. Department of Labor, where he enforced the laws under the Department's jurisdiction through litigation and provided a full range of legal services to the Secretary of Labor and the numerous agencies and bureaus that make up the Department of Labor. During his career in government, Jacob has held a series of increasingly prestigious positions, including senior advisor to the Secretary of Labor, Deputy Solicitor of Labor, Special Assistant to President George W. Bush for domestic policy, specializing in immigration and justice issues, and attorney advisor in the Department of Justice Office of Legal Counsel, where he was awarded the Exceptional Civilian Service Award by the Department of Defense. Prior to entering public service, Jacob was in private practice in Washington, D.C., where he concentrated in class action and appellate litigation. He began his legal career as a clerk for the Honorable Jacques L. Wiener Jr., on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
