Recovery Spending on Transportation Projects: Success or Failure?

State Construction Projects: On Time, Under Budget, Creating Thousands of Jobs






State directors of transportation will respond Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at a
news conference to questions about the delivery of jobs and projects under the
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. 

Nationwide 2,000 construction projects are already underway with more to come
in the months ahead.  Is the program working as intended? The CEOs will
demonstrate how thousands of projects were approved in record time, and below
budget estimates.

WHO: Paula Hammond, Secretary of Transportation, Washington State Department
of Transportation; Will Kempton, Out-going President of the Western
Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials and Director of the
California Department of Transportation; and John R. Njord, Executive Director
of the Utah Department of Transportation.
