Steven Dettelbach Nominated U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio
CLEVELAND, July 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Steven M. Dettelbach, a partner in Baker Hostetler's Litigation group, has been nominated by President Obama for the position of United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio. Mr. Dettelbach, a member of the firm's White Collar Defense and Corporate Investigations practice, was one of six U.S. Attorney nominations announced by the White House. Prior to joining Baker Hostetler in 2006, Mr. Dettelbach worked in the executive, legislative and judicial branches of government over a 15-year span, serving as a federal prosecutor for the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., and at two U.S. Attorney's offices, and serving as counsel to the Senate Judiciary Committee. Just prior to joining the firm, Mr. Dettelbach was an Assistant U.S. Attorney on the Organized Crime and Corruption Strike Force for the Northern District of Ohio. In a statement, President Obama praised Mr. Dettelbach and his fellow nominees for "their dedication and accomplishments in both public service and private practice . . . these fine attorneys have distinguished themselves as some of the best and brightest their profession has to offer. I am honored to nominate them as United States Attorneys and know that they will faithfully and tirelessly pursue justice on behalf of the American people." U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH), who recommended Mr. Dettelbach for the position, said, "Steve Dettelbach has demonstrated professional achievements and an outstanding commitment to the northern Ohio community. I applaud President Obama for choosing a talented and driven Ohio leader. I look forward to his confirmation by the Senate." "I am honored and humbled by President Obama's decision to nominate me as U.S. Attorney," said Mr. Dettelbach. "If confirmed, I will strive to serve with excellence and integrity -- as Northern Ohioans deserve and should expect from their public servants." Mr. Dettelbach, who also currently serves as a Commissioner on the Ohio Ethics Commission, graduated from Dartmouth College and Harvard Law School. "This well-deserved nomination is a tremendous honor for Steve and our firm," said Steven Kestner, Executive Partner of Baker Hostetler.
