A New Commander for Canadian Forces Health Services
OTTAWA, ONTARIO, Jul 10 (MARKET WIRE) --
Brigadier-General Hilary Jaeger passed command of Canadian Forces Health
Services Group to Commodore Hans Jung in a ceremony held this afternoon
at Cartier Square Drill Hall, in downtown Ottawa. For Brigadier-General
Jaeger, the ceremony marks the end of two years as Commander, Canadian
Forces Health Services Group, and Director General Health Services; and
five years as Canadian Forces Surgeon General.
Having taken command of Canadian Forces Health Services Group in May
2007, Brigadier-General Jaeger leaves with a feeling of great
satisfaction that she has had the opportunity to lead a formation of
highly trained medical and dental professionals recognized
internationally for their excellence.
"I am so proud of the contribution that we in Health Services have made
to the Canadian Forces, Canadian society, and the world," said
Brigadier-General Jaeger. "As the commander of such a professional group,
I knew that whenever it was needed, the people I had the privilege to
lead would rise to the challenge." Brigadier-General Jaeger will be
moving on to occupy a NATO International Security Assistance Force
position overseas.
Commodore Jung will now assume the three roles of Commander, Canadian
Forces Health Services Group; Director General Health Services; and
Canadian Forces Surgeon General. Commodore Jung previously held the
position of Deputy Surgeon General. He was promoted to the rank of
Commodore on June 22.
"I would like to recognize the tremendous achievements of Health Services
under the stewardship of Brigadier-General Jaeger," said Commodore Jung.
"My role will be to build on this solid foundation and to bring a fresh
perspective and a new approach to whatever challenges the future may
bring."
The mission of Canadian Forces Health Services Group is to provide
full-spectrum, high-quality health services to Canada's fighting forces
wherever they serve. Health Services is over 5,600-strong, with Regular
Force, Reserve Force and civilian personnel serving across Canada and
deployed overseas, working in over 120 units and health-care centres.
