Suffolk University Named to Princeton Review`s "Best 371 Colleges" for 2010
BOSTON--(Business Wire)-- Suffolk University has been selected by The Princeton Review as one of the best institutions for undergraduate education in North America. The University joins the exclusive group of institutions profiled in the Princeton Review`s 2010 edition of The Best 371 Colleges. It is the sixth consecutive year Suffolk University has made the list. "We commend Suffolk University for its outstanding academics, which is the primary criteria for our choice of schools for the book," said Robert Franek, Princeton Review`s vice president, publishing. Only about 15 percent of America`s 2,500 four-year colleges, and two Canadian colleges are in the book. "It is gratifying that Suffolk University was selected for the sixth year as one of the best schools in the country," said Marguerite Dennis, vice president for enrollment and international programs. "Suffolk`s inclusion in the Princeton Review`s Best 371 Colleges is an indication of the high quality of instruction and personal attention Suffolk students receive from faculty, staff and administrators. At Suffolk we are committed not just to the admission of students but to their graduation." In the just-published edition of The Princeton Review`s Best Colleges book, students describe Suffolk University as "small enough that you actually recognize students from their pictures in the admissions booklets and big enough to attract national speakers," with "down-to-earth professors" and "a large international population." The two-page profile of the University highlights the desirable downtown location, "steps from Boston Common and the Public Garden." "Simply put, students know they ain`t in Kansas anymore!" the profile says, adding that students prefer to spend their free time enjoying the city of Boston and that "what you lose in the lack of campus, you gain with the city." The profile also highlights the University`s international ties, which draw a large number of overseas students to the Boston campus. It says that "interacting with students from different backgrounds or cultures isn`t an option - it`s a daily occurrence." Suffolk campuses in Madrid and Dakar, Senegal, along with partnerships with universities in cities such as Prague, make it easy to study abroad. Suffolk scored an exceptionally high 91 Green Rating in the survey -- where 99 was the maximum score - a reflection of the University`s commitment to sustainability and environmentally friendly practices. The listing includes notes from the Admissions Office, which cites the University`s noted and experienced professors "who go the extra mile to help students succeed" and the excellent job-placement record for alumni. ----- Suffolk University, located on Boston`s historic Beacon Hill, with international campuses in Madrid and Dakar, Senegal, is a comprehensive global institution distinguished by the teaching and the intellectual contributions of its faculty.
