Global Launch of Humanitarian Response Index 2009

DARA, an independent non-profit organisation, will hold the international launch of its global Humanitarian Response Index 2009 on Tuesday, 10th November at the National Press Club in Washington D.C. Now in its third year, the HRI ranks 23 of the wealthiest donors (OECD/ Development Assistance Committee members), including the U.S. The report includes analysis of the performance and policies of each donor country based on quantitative data, and on field research carried out in 13 major humanitarian crises during 2009. Among other things, the launch will cover how well the U.S. performs in comparison to other donors, and what its individual ranking indicates about areas the Obama administration needs to focus on as it reforms U.S. humanitarian policy.
