ALEXANDRIA, Va.--(Business Wire)--
Baker and Associates, a unit of Michael Baker Corporation (NYSE Amex:BKR),
announced today that it has been awarded a contract to provide design services
for the new, approximately $70 million Equipment Maintenance and Operations
Center located in Rockville, Maryland, for Montgomery County, Maryland. The
facility will provide administrative and maintenance facilities for the County`s
fleet, transit and highway maintenance operations. Baker and Associates will
lead a team providing comprehensive planning, design, and engineering services
for the project.

The Equipment Maintenance and Operations Center is a key component of Montgomery
County`s "Smart Growth Initiative" which will reduce real estate costs and
provide for land use in keeping with best practices. The new facility will
relocate maintenance and industrial facilities away from the Shady Grove Metro

Grove Sector Plan which calls for transit-oriented development near the Metro
Station. In addition, the project provides for replacement of an aging complex.

Baker`s project leader, Peter Schmidt, AIA, said, "Montgomery County and its
leadership are truly dedicated to sustainable facilities design and this project
will provide an opportunity for Baker to help them meet their sustainability
goals and keep the project on-budget and on-time throughout the process."
