NEW YORK, NY, Jun 24 (MARKET WIRE) --
Expert System, leading provider of semantic software that searches,
discovers, classifies and interprets unstructured text information, today
announces its financial and operative results for 2008 and first quarter
2009, marking positive growth of the company and defying the global
recession trend.

Expert System developed its U.S. office in 2008 and since then, the
company has increased the value of production by 21 percent, exceeding
the limit of more than $13 million. The health of the company has
generated a need for hiring during a time when new employment
opportunities are scarce.

Adding to an existing client base of companies such as Telecom Italia, The
Italian Ministry of Defense, EniTechnologie and RCS Media Group, Expert
System has won deals with new worldwide customers: MPS, AGI News,
Findomestic, Autostrade per l'Italia, Confcommercio online newspaper,
among several others.

Expert System has also signed new agreements with partners operating in
the mobile and IT industries. The most recent partnerships include Oracle,
Accenture and RIM.

Last year was a hallmark in product development as well. Building off
Expert System's COGITO semantic engine, four new solutions were launched:

-- COGITO Monitor (launched April 2008) -- a semantic-based
analyzer of consumer opinions and sentiment from online forums and
blogs;

-- COGITO Focus (launched June 2008) -- a revolutionary search and
analysis engine for the strategic management of information inside and
outside an organization;

-- COGITO Semantic Advertiser (launched September 2008) -- a
semantic platform that automatically processes the meaning of text to
ensure ad placement is relevant to its assigned Web pages; and

-- COGITO Answers (launched December 2008) -- a semantic suite
incorporating a Natural Language Interface (NLI) designed for enterprise
search and customer self help on mobile devices.

Validating Expert System's product and technological innovation, the
company has won several awards including COGITO Answer's recognition as
the Best Customer Care Solution at the prestigious Global Mobile Awards
2009; a third-place finalist award out of 300 entries for the CTIA
Emerging Technology Award for Innovation in Pro-sumer/Business
Productivity; and a finalist selection in the SIIA CODiE Awards for Best
Enterprise Search Engine. Furthermore, Expert System was included in the
Gartner Magic Quadrant for Information Access Technology among leading
enterprises such as Oracle, IBM and Google.

"Last year [2008] was a banner year for Expert System with a new
corporate presence in the U.S, the introduction of four new
ground-breaking products and a surge in enterprise interest in semantic
technology," said J. Brooke Aker, CEO of Expert System, U.S.A. "We're so
proud of our accomplishments and we plan to continue to enhance our
semantic search engine, invest in strategic partnerships and expand the
company worldwide in 2009."
